9.1 Candidates will be able to model and build a positive school culture that supports the safe, healthy and ethical use of technology.
I reflected on Postman’s ten principles and how technology has an effect on peoples’ emotional and social well-being. Also, how it impacts our society as a whole. There are pros and cons to using technology in a school. At times this can create equities between students and schools. Stakeholders need to think about how they can create a positive and safe learning environment for the students and how they can decrease the negative effects it can have on a school culture.
9.2 Candidates will understand that digital citizenship is a framework for using technology as a tool to build social capital.
I created a video on digital citizenship that explains to teachers on how to find educational resources to use in the classroom. Teachers can find lessons based on grade level and different topics to inform their students about digital citizenship. I discussed the importance on students building as a team to help social capital.
9.3 Candidates will develop an understanding of the principles underlying legal statutes and regulations and make every effort to maintain the privacy of students’ information in the course of providing instruction and resources.
