3.1 Candidates will be able to apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies.
I have helped teachers create boards or gave them ideas on how to create a board to use as an assessment for their students. Teachers have created boards for small group and whole group instruction. In small group, teachers have had students answer questions to see what they know, and what they need to reteach. I have received examples for math and ELA.
10.1 Candidates will be able to understand the pros and cons of technology from a variety of critical perspectives and apply that understanding to evaluating current and potential technology in schools and society.
Teachers have given me feedback about Aww App and what they felt was positive and negative. I made a list about the pros and cons to using the website. With teachers we discussed if we could do anything to change the cons. Many teachers did not want to spend the money and purchase the package. Also, the website does not offer pre-made templates but we could work together to creat templates and share with each other. Overall, we evaluated the website and discussed the potential it has with schools and society.
15.1 Candidates will be able to apply models of professional learning to begin the process of real change in a school.
I created a Google Hangout to present information about Aww App to the K-2nd grade teachers in my school building. I modeled how to access the website and what tools the teachers could use to create a board with a lesson. We discussed how they could use this website for different subjects and group of students. This helped us bounce new ideas around and open our thinking. I had the teachers explore the website and discuss what ways they think that they could implement this into a lesson. The teachers learned how to share the board with their students. I created boards to share with the teachers to give them new ideas on how to use the website.
16.1 Candidates will be able to actively engage in professional learning networks (PLN) to collaborate and share ideas and resources with colleagues.
I decided to think of ways to expand this idea to teachers all over BCPS. I decided to join a PLN on Facebook to collaborate and share the Aww App with colleagues. Teachers were able to share their ideas, ask questions, and reach out for help. Teachers brought new ideas and discussed how they implement this website into their lessons. Many teachers told me that they would love to test this website out and let me know how it went with their students. Many teachers were actively engaged and would reply to each others comments or tag other teachers on the post.
16.2 Candidates will be able to determine and implement the best approaches to improving their technology integration efforts through a continual process of self-evaluation and reflection.
I determined that implementing Skype at the moment would not be the best approach to improving technology integration since we are all using Google Hangouts. I decided that I would use Aww App as a new approach that would be beneficial for teachers. Teachers would have access to an interactive whiteboard that they could use with their students for remote-learning. Throughout my internship, I reflected on ways to help spread this information and guide teachers on how to use the tools on the website.
